  1. The Great Nationwide Kiss-In

Don’t you just love seeing lovebirds share a smooch on the bus or in the checkout at the grocery store? We do! Doesn’t it fill you up with joy to see joy manifest, to witness living proof that we all share a common purpose in this life? Cuz without love, life can feel pretty null and void.

Unfortunately, not everyone sees it this way. Some folks say this simple trinket of affection should be left at home, locked away in a curio cabinet with the wedding China—particularly if you happen to be a boy kissing a boy or a gal smooching another gal. In recent months, multiple gay and lesbian couples have been harassed, and even arrested, for such simple public displays of affection. Can you imagine, being arrested just for locking lips with the one you love?

We would like to take this opportunity to issue our own big public display of affection, with muchos besos to the organizers of the Great Nationwide Kiss-In—bloggers David Badash and David Mailloux, and Willow Witte, cofounder of Join the Impact. Thanks to the hard work of this dedicated threesome, gay and straight couples will publicly pucker up in a salute to love and freedom in more than 40 cities—from San Francisco to Toronto to Normal, IL—this Saturday, August 15 at 2pm EDT (11am PST). Because seriously, a kiss is just a kiss; a sweet affirmation of affection, peace and love. And couldn’t we all use just a little more of that?

Note: This video is the group’s third promo film. You can see the first two here (we have a cameo!) and here. To find the kiss-in nearest you, please click here. xoxo

Cloris Leachman & Lt. Dan Choi have cameos in this SF Pride short documentary film by  Joseph Olesh at Flicker Films. Joe followed “Just Married” from glittering posters in the garage and down the rainbow-lined parade route. He really captured the meaning and beauty of Pride. Enjoy the show!

    **UPDATE July 20, 2009**
“PRIDE 2009” was accepted to Denmark’s BORNSHORTS Film Festival!

Frankie directed this short film and music video, set to Kellye Gray’s stunning rendition of an ever-evolving jazz classic. 4. Bjorn Borg: “Love for All”

Frankie loves Bjorn Borg. A big fan growing up, she is even more so now. “Love for All” was created in Sweden, which became the seventh country to recognize full marriage equality in May 2009.

  5. 13 Love Stories

13 couples. 13 heartbreaking tales of the impact of Proposition 8. We love these films for their beauty, candor and, especially, for the initiative taken by photographer Gideon Mendel along with UCLA students and curators to redress the absence of an LGBT face in the No on 8 campaign. 13LoveStories launched as an outdoor exhibition on the UCLA campus in March 2009.
